Transfering your Domain Name
1stNames will transfer your domain name on request to any other service provider free of charge. There are two types of transfer. Firstly, you can transfer your domain name to new domain name servers and secondly, you can transfer the administration of your domain name to another service provider. Please note that if you are using our web/email forwarding service with your domain name then we can only continue to provide this service if your domain name is both hosted on our domain name servers AND adminstered by us.
Letter of Authority.
To transfer your domain name we require written authorisation from the registrant. If the registant is an organisation (a company, charity, club etc) then the letter of authority should be on headed paper and signed by a member of that organisation. If the registrant is an individual then it should be signed by the registrant. In either case a contact email address should be provided as well as any relevant details from your new service provider (see below). Please fax your letter of authority to us on 020 7691 7816.
I want my domain name to be hosted on new domain name servers.
Please supply us with the details of the new servers your domain name is to be hosted on. 1stNames will continue to be responsible for any changes to the domain name record and will still handle the registration renewals that are due every two years.
I want my domain name to be administered by another service provider. Please
supply
us with one of the following three pieces of information :- For .co.uk, .org.uk, .ltd.uk and .plc.uk domain names we will need your new service provider's IPS Tag. For .info, .com, .net and .org domain names that are registered at the registrar Network Solutions we will need your new service provider's NIC Handle. For .info, .com, .net and .org domain names that are registered at the registrar OpenSRS we just need your new service provider's name. In this case your new service provider should put in a transfer request at their registrar. The registrar will then contact us for confimation.
Most transfers will be processed within one working day.
